Tasks

Overview

A task is a single HTTP job: a URL CronFox calls on a cron schedule (or when you click Run now). Tasks always live inside a collection.

Create a task

1. Open Collections and click the collection that should own the job.
2. Start New task (or the create control on the collection view).
3. Fill in the basics:
   • Name — shown in lists and analytics
   • URL — absolute URL CronFox will request
   • HTTP method — GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, or DELETE
   • Cron expression — five-field schedule; optionally add a second expression
4. Optionally open advanced settings for headers, body, timeout, retries, and Dead Man’s Switch.
5. Save. Confirm the task is enabled if you want it to run on schedule.

Edit, enable, disable

1. Open the collection, then open the task.
2. Edit fields and save.
3. Use the enable/disable control to pause scheduling without deleting the task.
4. Disabled tasks keep their configuration and history (within retention) but do not fire on cron.

Advanced options

From the task form you can configure:

Delete

Delete a task from the collection view when you no longer need it. Deletion removes future schedules for that task. Execution history expires according to your plan’s retention even if the task still exists.

Tip: Prefer disable over delete while you are debugging schedules or endpoints.
